As some of you may remember you’ve known we planned on and did breed our male black pastel het ghost to our gold blush mojave female this season. We did get a sweet clutch of 5 eggs this year from her. We were so pumped hoping to hit the combo this time around. But when we cut the eggs on day 47 we were surprised that not only did we not hit the black magic combo (black pastel mojave combo), but two of the eggs had not developed all of their color yet.
We had to double-check the dates to make sure it was truly day 47, because as we all know if you cut too early the pigment in the animal might not have come all the way in yet. But with this clutch it was most definitely day 47. As a matter of fact the only black pastel in the clutch was jet black. So we knew from that moment something was up with these guys.
First thing I did was email the breeder from whom I acquired the gold blush mojave female from. Mr. Brian Gundy. He informed me that the mother of my female gold blush mojave was really a special animal. She was really light in color and had an amazing head spot on her head. Mind you that although recessive animals such as a ghost aren’t supposed to have markers, it has been rumored on more then one occasion that true het ghosts have light coloring with a spot of light colored scaled on their head.
Well today I was finally able to put my thoughts to rest. I have been so excited about this clutch that I keep forgetting to sex them! HAHA! Every time I take them out for pics I get so wrapped up in their looks I totally forget to see who’s a boy and who’s a girl.
Here is a picture of them all together. Look at those purples, that blushing, the contrast in colors.
Amazeaballs!!!!!!!
