I think I am going to have a late season. Come on EGGS!

I just came back from checking on everyone this morning and still no eggs. What gives? I know I have girls building, bowl wrapping, getting ready to drop. It’s just really hard to know when considering I missed just about all my ovulations while I was laid up from surgery. So it’s just a big guessing game at this point.

(A het albino shows us the perfect example of bowl wrapping)

As one gets more in tune with their animals and snakes in general you learn certain things. Such as the difference  between follicles, slugs, and eggs when palpating a female. I’ve gone through all of my girls and I know who’s ovulated, whose not, and who won’t. But I don’t know when they will lay. You can only really tell when they will lay by the obvious signs and even at that point it’s just a guess. For instance my mojave female is gravid, has ovulated, but I am not sure when she will lay. I know it’s soon because the eggs are low and she is HUGE. She is also sitting on her hotspot 247 at this point. So its safe to assume she is close. But how close?

Most of the time I know dates, time frames, when things are due. But this year is going down a whole new way for me. I do hope it goes as planned. I’ve had a rough 6 months and could use some relief!

Not so normal girl laying eggs.

Here’s a quick video of a not so normal girl laying eggs. I found her with my daughter when we went to check on the girls. I bred her with my pied because she just looked so het piedish to me. She had hug racing stripes down her side, full blow markers if you ask me. Plus she has a really nice reduced pattern. So even if we get all hets, they hopefully will be nice and reduced. I tell you one thing. She was soooo pissed when we found her. I didn’t want to push her, so we left her alone before she actually layed the egg.
