Well it’s hard to believe that the 2011 hatchling season is already sneaking up on us. I normally start pairing on October 1st. That’s NEXT WEEK! WOW!
Where did the time go? I know my feeder bill has been through the roof the past few months. Ive been worried all summer that the girls werent putting on weight, that the boys wouldnt be up to size or fattened up from last season. So I have been feeding them real well. Small rats once a week and too those animals that were still not putting on good weight I would throw them an extra small here and there.
It’s safe to say all that worrying wasnt for nothing! The boys are right on par with where they should be. They are all fattened up and up to size for the coming season. What a relief! I did take a sneak peak at the girls too the other day when I did my monthly over haul on the animals. But I will save that for the next post. ;0)
One of the males I really am excited about is my Lemon Blast. He has been a terrifc eater and at a year old he is just about 700 grams.

I cannot wait to see his offspring. I have one piglet pastel girl lined up for just him! I am really hoping for SuperBlasts!!! How awesome would that be?
The next male I check on was my enchi. I picked him up last year, but he was not interested in the ladies one bit. So this year I can almost bet he gets his grove on and goes to town on the ladies. I cannot wait to load up on some hold back female enchis. The crosses you can make with female enchis blown my mind.

(For some reason I can never catch his colors correctly.)
Next up is the Bumblebee. Like the lemon blast I have a lemon pastel girl lined up for this handsome little fella. I really hope he does the dead this year. He is kind of skidish, which isnt a good sign. I need my males to have confidence, which it seems he totally lacks. He does eat like a champ so maybe he will surprise me.

Next up is the pied. How could I make a post about the boys without including the proven breeder male pied? He sired a few clutches this year for me. So we do have some hold back pied females. I would really like to get my hands on a breeder axanthic female. The double hets would be like little bundles of gold. I really want to produce a lightning pied one day. AMAZING!

As you can see, the boys have been keeping up on their boyish looks. I cannot wait for next years clutches. We are going to have some really cool and exciting things hatching. I almost wish I could fast forward about 7 or 8 months. LOL! Wouldn’t that rock?
Next up, the GIRLS!
